The All Good School Pack

The All Good School Pack

Our All Good Bananas are New Zealand’s only Fairtrade bananas, produced by small family farmers from the El Guabo cooperative in Ecuador. We want to share their story!

We’re always getting calls from teachers who want to teach their kids about Fairtrade, asking if we have any resources to help. So we got together with some of our teacher friends and asked them what would help kids learn about Fairtrade in a fun, easy-to-follow way.

Ta-da… the All Good Bananas School Pack was born!

What’s it all about?

The All Good Bananas School Pack traces the journey of our Fairtrade bananas from the farms where they are grown in El Guabo, Ecuador, to your fruit bowl. The All Good gorilla and Jarvis introduce you to some of the farmers and bananareos in the El Guabo cooperative. See how bananas grow, how they are harvested and packed for their journey to New Zealand. Then learn what makes Fairtrade bananas different from your average bunch of bananas. Meet Anibal Cabrera, an organic farmer from the El Guabo Fairtrade cooperative. Learn about the difference Fairtrade is making to Anibal’s life and the lives of children and other families in his community. When you choose Fairtrade bananas, you’re helping farmers like Anibal create a better life. We’ve also thrown in some fun activity ideas and information.

The pack is designed for primary school kids as a resource to compliment lessons on Fairtrade and to bring to life the story of New Zealand’s most popular fruit. Where do bananas come from and how do the decisions we make in New Zealand affect the lives of farmers on the other side of the world?

We can also come out to your school to chat to kids about Fairtrade bananas and have an interactive session with the Where Do Your Bananas Come From DVD. The All Good gorilla is always keen for a special guest appearance!
